摘要註

The increasing demand for globally competent human resources has led many Indonesian students to pursue higher education abroad. This study investigates the key factors that influence their decision-making process by integrating the Theory of Planned Behavior (TPB) with Push and Pull Factor Theory. Using a quantitative research design, data were collected through structured questionnaires from 210 Indonesian students who are either preparing for or currently engaged in international study programs. The analysis was conducted using Partial Least Squares Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The results reveal that both push and pull factors significantly affect students’ intentions to study abroad. Among these, access to practical experience emerged as the most influential pull factor, followed by host country attractiveness and dissatisfaction with homeland conditions. Career advancement, self-capacity development, and psychological comfort were also found to be significant drivers. Interestingly, demographic control variables such as age, gender, and socioeconomic status had no statistically significant impact on students’ decisions. These findings reinforce the applicability of TPB in understanding educational migration and provide insights into the dual motivational forces shaping international study choices. This study offers practical implications for policymakers, educational institutions, and study abroad agencies aiming to improve international education access and design more effective student mobility programs. This study has several limitations. First, its findings are not generalizable beyond Indonesia. Second, the questionnaire's complex language may have caused misinterpretation. Third, the study only examined a limited number of variables, while other influential factors were not explored..
